781 - FLAME THROWER OPERATOR
[FLAME THROWER OPER]
Charges, operates, and performs minor maintenance on a portable flame thrower.
May prepare thickened fuel. Must understand the limitations and the proper tactical employment of and be skilled in the use of the weapon. Must know characteristics of various types of fuels and conditions under which the various types may be used most advantageously. Must know safety precautions for preparing and handling fuel and for operating high-pressure components of the weapon.
Note—This SSN will not be assigned as a primary military specialty when flame thrower operation is additional duty. See also SSN's 533 and 745.
