729 - SHORE PARTY MAN
Performs various duties in the establishment of a beachhead supply system for amphibious operations.
Assists in the selection of sites for and the establishment of beach supply dumps, landing areas, aid and medical collecting stations; assists in the construction and maintenance of improvised landings, temporary wharves, and traffic routes from shore to road net; assists in the installation of beach and supply dump markers; and supervises working parties temporarily assigned to the shore party for loading and unloading tanks during assaults on beachheads.
Must be thoroughly familiar with unloading and landing operations of amphibious assaults. Must have a general knowledge of the basic functions of a shore party.
