Installs, maintains, and repairs machinery, machine tools, and other related equipment in a machine shop, repair shop, or other maintenance center.
Inspects shop machinery and equipment, makes adjustments, and performs major repairs by dismantling, disassembling, and repairing or replacing worn, damaged, or defective parts. May fabricate replacement parts not found in stock. Must be able to interpret blueprints and manufacturers' manuals and diagrams. Must be able to operate machine shop equipment and to use mechanics' hand tools and micrometers, gauges, and calipers.
