090 - HEAT-TREATER
Alters the physical and chemical properties of metals and metal parts by controlled heating and cooling to produce a specified degree of hardness, toughness, or resistance.
Must have a thorough knowledge of the working properties of various metals and metal alloys, including basic theories of physical and chemical changes brought about by heat-treating. Must be thoroughly familiar with both case hardening and annealing methods.
